The Green Bay Packers have been expected to draft a wide receiver to give Aaron Rodgers more weapons over the past couple of years. During the 2020 NFL Draft, the franchise chose not to take one at all. Finally, in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Packers decided to trade up in order to select Clemson star wide receiver Amari Rodgers.

Coming into the NFL Draft this year, there was a lot of speculation about Rodgers heading to the Packers. He had even stated in a pre-draft interview that a dream scenario for him would be heading to Green Bay in the second round. While he didn't end up being a second-round pick, he did end up heading to Wisconsin to join one of the most storied franchises in NFL history.

Rodgers is exactly the kind of pick that the Packers needed to make. They had to find another weapon to help make their MVP quarterback happy, especially with all of the trade rumors and unrest that has been reported between the two sides. Amari Rodgers may not be a superstar, but he absolutely has the potential to become a major impact player early on in his career.

During the 2020 college football season with Clemson, Rodgers put up big numbers. He racked up 77 receptions for 1,020 yards and seven touchdowns. Most of his snaps came from the slot, which was a major need for the Packers last season.

Matt LaFleur's offense needed a slot wideout who could make plays both down the field if needed and across the middle of the field. That is where Rodgers excels. He will give the Packers a slot option who can break tackles and make plays anytime he touches the football.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at three early predictions for Amari Rodgers with the Packers in his rookie season.

3. He Will Compete For A Starting Job

Right off the bat, the questions about playing time will come up surrounding the rookie wide receiver. Can he play in his rookie year? Will he receive a big role in the offense?

To put it simply, Amari Rodgers is going to compete for a starting job with the Packers. We certainly are not predicting that he will end up winning the job, but he will absolutely compete for it. That alone will show that Rodgers has a legitimate chance to play a big role right off the bat.

Rodgers has all of the talent and potential to be something special for Green Bay. He is going to have a role in his rookie year. Whether that role ends up being a starting role or a valuable No. 3 or No. 4 receiver role, he will make a name for himself immediately.

2. Rodgers Will Fill Out The Offense Perfectly

This isn't a statistical prediction, but it is a practical prediction. The Packers brought Rodgers onto the roster in order to play a role that no one else could fill. What role could that be other than being a slot wideout?

Just a few short years ago, Randall Cobb was an elite slot receiver for the Packers. After being drafted by Green Bay, Rodgers received comparisons to Cobb, who actually played under the coaching of his father. Rodgers was even mentioned as a better version of Cobb, which would fit the idea that Green Bay has for him.

Rodgers will be able to provide the Packers' offense with an option that they have not had over the last couple of years. Aaron Rodgers will love targeting a legitimate slot wideout for the first time since his close friend (Cobb) left town.

1. At Least 45 Receptions, 400 Yards, And Four Touchdowns

Finally, we are going to make predictions for Amari Rodgers' rookie season with the Packers from a statistical standpoint. He is not going to be a 1,000-yard receiver in his rookie season, but he will be productive.

Rodgers will catch at least 45 passes for 400 yards and four scores as a rookie. Those numbers will prove the franchise right for trading up for him. He is without a doubt capable of producing bigger numbers, but those are reasonable to expect from the rookie in 2021.

Expect to see him make an impact right off the bat for the Packers. Green Bay may have waited to bring in a receiver, but this was well worth the wait. Fans are going to love what they see from him and he will become an instant fan favorite and a target that the reigning NFL MVP uses often in the future.
