The Green Bay Packers defense took a hit Monday with not one but two players suffering leg injuries during practice that required both of them carted off the field.
First, safety Kentrell Brice suffered an apparent leg injury during special teams work, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Then, linebacker Jake Ryan followed with a right leg injury. Pro Bowl defensive tackle Mike Daniels also suffered a leg injury of his own, although he did not have to be carted off.
Of the two, Ryan is the more significant injury for the defense. A fourth-round pick by the Packers in 2015, Ryan has started 22 of 29 games he’s played over the last two seasons for the Packers. He played close to half the team’s defensive snaps last season and recorded 79 tackles with one sack and a forced fumble in 15 games (12 starts). Ryan is entering the final year of his deal with the Packers.

Brice was working with the starters during training camp and may have a much larger role to play this season following Morgan Burnett’s departure this offseason. The Packers don’t have a ton of depth at safety at the moment. They only have six safeties — Brice, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Josh Jones, Marwin Evans, Raven Green, and Jermaine Whitehead — currently signed up on the roster.
