Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb had a stinker of a game last week against the Washington Redskins. Even he readily took responsibility for his part in the team’s disappointing 31-17 defeat after his terrible performance.
However, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy does not seem particularly worried about his veteran receiver moving forward.
“I have zero concerns about him,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “He's the same guy every day. He's got tremendous work ethic. So it was a hard game for our team. We knew it going in. I thought they did a good job with the adjusted preparation going into it. You know we needed to be better from the corrections we make today from that game yesterday.”
Randall Cobb had just four catches on 11 targets against the Redskins. He should’ve had a couple more catches as he committed two costly drops. He also committed a back-breaking fumble in the fourth quarter as the Packers were attempting to come back.
Cobb has now had just eight catches for 52 yards over his last two games after exploding for nine grabs for 142 yards and the game-winning touchdown in the season opener against the Bears.
With Aaron Rodgers still limited by his knee injury, the Packers will need their playmakers in Cobb and Davante Adams to do much more on offense to compensate. Despite his poor outing, Mike McCarthy seems confident in Cobb's ability to recover from his setback against the Redskins.
Cobb will get a great chance to bounce back and completely put his terrible performance behind him this Sunday at home against the Bills.
