Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb admitted he wasn't close to making a return from injury after the team's 22-0 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. There was speculation about the possibility of him playing in Week 4. In reality, his road to full recovery may be further out than most thought. Cobb said he didn't want to risk anything by playing when he's not 100 percent.

From Rob Demovsky of ESPN:

“As much as I would've wanted to, I couldn't be out there running at full speed,” Cobb said on Monday. “So it's no reason to take that risk.” As for Sunday at Detroit, Cobb said: “It's feeling better. I made strides the past couple days and hopefully I can continue to make those strides.”

Randall Cobb has only missed one game this season. This year, he's recorded 17 receptions for 194 yards and a touchdown. He and Devante Adams are 1A and 1B in terms of the team's wide receiver depth chart when healthy. They're at their best when they can field both.

The Packers are 2-1-1 this season. Aaron Rodgers gave them a scare with a Week 1 knee injury, but he has continued to play through it. The team is currently second in the NFC North, trailing only the Chicago Bears. Their Week 5 divisional game with the Detroit Lions will be an important one.

Based on Cobb's statement, he appears to think he won't return for another week or two. The efforts of Geronimo Allison, Jimmy Graham and a host of other players will supplement the offense until then.
