A new report suggests that Randall Cobb will no longer be a member of the Green Bay Packers in a few week, since he's not resigning his contract.
At least that's the word according to the NFL Network, who say that Michael Silver, a longtime sports commentator for the site, believes that the team will move on from the veteran wide receiver.
He also said that the decision will come during the off-season, which means we can expect to move in the near future:
“Randall Cobb, in my opinion, it is more likely than not that he will be gone and they will try to upgrade at the slot receiver position just feeling that his better days are probably behind him.”
Part of the reason that Silver believes that Cobb will be cut is because, thanks to multiple injuries, he hasn't been able to play at his peak capabilities.
Cobb only played in nine games in 2018 and he posted 38 receptions for 383 yards and two touchdowns. He has not played a full 16-game season since 2015 when he posted 79 receptions for 829 yards and six touchdowns. The only time Cobb made the Pro Bowl was in 2014.
The last time Randall Cobb was eligible for free agency, he signed a four-year contract that netted him close to $40 million. However, because he didn't perform at his best this past year, he can't possibly expect the same treatment this time around.
Right now, he's got a price tag of about $15 million for two years.
