The Houston Texans have to feel good about their 2019 season, but there are still some holes they need to fill during the offseason. The team had a lot of positives, but also a lot of holes were exposed that need to be worked on. The Texans don't have a first-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, so a lot of their immediate impact players will have to come through free agency.

The good news for the Texans is they are projected to have over $60 million in cap space, according to Spotrac.com. So what should the Texans target? Let's break down three major needs for the Texans this offseason.

3. The Texan Need An Edge Rusher

The Texans need an edge rusher as soon as possible. The team traded away Jadeveon Clowney after not reaching a long-term deal and JJ Watt always seems to be banged up.

Not having the first-round draft pick hurts here, because they could have spent that to replace Clowney. Without the draft pick, they probably need to look at some free agent targets. A veteran like Derek Wolfe or Everson Griffen would look really good in Houston. If the team could find a way to keep Watt healthy, that would be big too.

2. Cornerbacks

The Texans could be very shorthanded at cornerback, depending on who decides to leave. Johnathan Joseph and Bradley Roby are set to be free agents, and they are both anchors of the defense. The team still has Gareon Conley and Vernon Hargreaves, but they could use at least one.

They need to go out in free agency and find a cornerback who they can count as a top cornerback. With all the money they have to spend, they can't be afraid to spend the money to get the right guy.

1. Running back

Carlos Hyde is set to be a free agent and it's unclear if the team wants to bring him back. Duke Johnson is still under contract, but he is really better as a sidekick.

It's not a loaded free agent field of running backs, but how good would Melvin Gordon look in the backfield next to Deshaun Watson? Derrick Henry is another guy who would be a great option and would really improve the backfield.

The Texans are so close, and this isn't an offseason where the Texans can be shy. They have the money to spend and they need to go out and get some impact players to improve their team for next year.
