Cornerback Aaron Colvin has hit pay dirt. The Houston Texans, on the other hand, has found a great addition to their secondary. According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Colvin and the Texans have agreed to a lucrative four-year deal.
Numbers on new Texans CB Aaron Colvin: Four years, $34 million with $18 million in guarantees, source says.
Colvin, 26, spent his first four years in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was part of the Jaguars’ vaunted secondary last season that was largely responsible for Jacksonville’s defense that finished 2017 with only 169.9 passing yards allowed per game and second in the league in interceptions with 21.

While Colvin did not record an interception in 2017 nor in any of his season so far in the pro ranks, he is regarded as a tough defender downfield. He has an overall grade of 80.0 on Pro Football Focus, which makes him an above average cornerback.
In addition to that, PFF also says that Colvin is tops in the NFL since 2014 in terms of coverage snaps to touchdown allowed ratio.
Aaron Colvin inking a new deal with Houston comes a year after the Jaguars signed former Texans corner, A.J. Bouye, so in a sense, this completes a tit-for-tat exchange between the two squads.
Colvin, however, might not be the only fresh face on Houston’s secondary next season. According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans could still be adding more pieces to that group.
Texans' pending addition of Aaron Colvin comes after their interest in corners Malcolm Butler and E.J. Gaines. Colvin deal doesn't mean they're done adding to their secondary, though.
