Legendary Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson is still going at his former franchise.

Johnson previously tweeted his support for Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson amid the star signal-callers trade demands. He said Watson should stand his ground, adding the Texans are an organization known for “wasting careers.”

The two-time All-Pro receiver elaborated on his initial tweet during an interview with former NFL wideout Harry Douglas on The HD Connection podcast. Johnson said he believed it was a poor decision for the Texans to mislead Watson about his potential involvement in the search for a new head coach and general manager. He also suggested there is a cultural issue within the organization and upper management:

“I’ve been around the organization for a long time,” Johnson said, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “I worked there last season. It’s just certain things you see. Being able to be on that side of it, it’s just certain things that you see that you know are not right.”

One can't help but look back at Houston's 2020 calendar year and find truth in Johnson's words regarding culture.

The Texans allowed former head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien to trade away former star receiver DeAndre Hopkins last March. O'Brien then had a verbal dispute with star defensive lineman J.J. Watt at the start of the year, resulting in his eventual dismissal. Watt, meanwhile, expressed a desire to move on and is now a free agent.

Then there's Watson, who was enraged by the team's decision to proceed with the hiring of new GM Nick Caserio. Both Caserio and Texans owner Cal McNair has said the team will not trade Watson, but Johnson still seems to think the three-time Pro Bowler should be obstinate in his willingness to play for Houston in 2021.
