The Houston Texans and Bill O'Brien made a trade earlier in the offseason that had a lot of NFL fans up in arms. They traded superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals, and got very little in return.
The aftermath of this trade has involved Bill O'Brien getting a lot of questions on the subject. And that's got to be wearing on him a little bit.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, O'Brien believes the Texans are making the right moves however.
Bill O'Brien: 'Every decision we make will always be mad in the best interest of the team.'

Bill O'Brien: 'We're doing everything possible to put together a great football team. We need our season ticket holders and really excited about the upcoming season.'

This is something that a lot of Texans fans won't agree with. It's easy to see their reasoning too. How could you be putting together the best team possible when you traded away someone that many believe to be the best wide receiver in football?
Article Continues BelowLet's look at it from both sides though. It's possible that there was more reasoning behind the Hopkins trade for the Texans than what was on the surface.
O'Brien and the Texans might have had a very good reason for trading Hopkins. And they certainly still have a solid team that could compete and make a run in the playoffs (although let's not pretend like losing Hopkins won't hurt).
This is one of those “wait and see” types of situations. If Houston performs well in 2020, a lot of fans will forgive them. however, if the Texans fall flat on their face, the Hopkins trade will look even worse.
The Texans and O'Brien have faced a lot of scrutiny and have had to answer a lot of questions following the Hopkins trade. If they prove O'Brien right and show that everything was done in the best interest of the team and that they did everything possible to put together a great team, all will be forgive.
If they don't though, we might be seeing the end of a tenure for the Texans.
