The 2018 NFL season did not end in an ideal fashion for the Houston Texans. Regardless, head coach Bill O'Brien feels there was still plenty to take away from their short playoff run.

The Texans were defeated handily by the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Wild Card round. According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, O'Brien still feels there was plenty to take from the loss:

“We all know that last game wasn’t great, and we have to learn from it,” Bill O’Brien said. “We have to learn why that happened from a coaching standpoint and a playing standpoint, and then we moved on to the next [season].

“You gather information and decide how you want to attack the roster, the offseason program and training camp. That’s the fun of it, the challenge of it. I think our guys are going to be fired up [Monday when the offseason program starts].”

O'Brien's comments are about what any one would expect for a team that suffered a rather uncharacteristic loss in the playoffs. The Texans had been one of the more star-studded rosters in the league, however, their high-powered offense was essentially shut out by a Colts team that was supposed to be rebuilding last season.

Regardless, there is still good reason for Houston to be optimistic about their chances moving forward. It is no secret that their biggest concern will be shoring up the protection for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Fortunately, the Texans have a bevy of quality picks to help them fill that need in the draft. Of course, their success will ultimately hinge on whether or not O'Brien is capable of helping this Pro Bowl roster met its high expectations moving forward.
