Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has taken a lot of hits this year, but he's willing to take the blame.

It's no secret that Watson is a mobile quarterback. An ACL tear ended his rookie season prematurely, but he's returned with a vengeance. According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Watson says he blames his sack total on himself holding the ball too long.

Deshaun Watson has been sacked 17 times through four games. He only trails Buffalo Bills rookie Josh Allen, who has 18. According to NFL.com, advanced stats say 34.5 percent of Watson's dropbacks result in him being pressured. Despite his porous offensive line, he remains a class act.

“He’s a very tough guy,” Texans coach Bill O'Brien told the Houston Chronicle. “You know, some of it can be concerning, but it’s some of the design of the plays. That’s what we do. He’s got good physical strength. There’s certain things that we do not want him to take a hit on. There’s other things that we do that he loves to do, and we like to call them and that’s part of the way he plays.”

The Texans are 1-3, which ties them with the Colts at the bottom of the AFC South. Despite his team's success, Watson has shown promise. This season, the Clemson product has hurled the ball for 1,246 yards and seven touchdowns. His passing yards total ranks him 9th in the NFL. The Texans have a promising talent that they need to protect at all costs. The coaching staff commends him for doing a great job of protecting himself when he can.

“I think he's really smart about it for the most part when you look at how he deals with those plays. He gets his pads down or he ducks out of bounds. He's a very, very smart runner. So, that's something we try to build around,”said O'Brien.

Watson's next challenge will be against the Dallas Cowboys, so he'll hope for a win in this big-time state rivalry.
