Deshaun Watson has flashed his brilliance with the Houston Texans in the last two seasons. Although, a former coach in the NFL believes he could be even better with some changes.
In an article by Mike Sando of The Athletic, a former head coach believes Deshaun Watson would benefit from more structure. Watson is relied upon to produce a lot of the offense but is he asked to do too much?
“He’s a 2 that they treat like a 1, and it gets him in trouble,” a former head coach said. “He is a talented, talented guy, but their offense is kind of a freelance offense. I think he needs more structure. They are counting on him making plays.”
Watson began his NFL career with a historic start in his rookie season with 19 passing touchdowns in six starts. Unfortunately, a torn ACL caused his rookie season to be cut short before he could smash rookie records.

What makes Watson so dangerous is his ability to run but the Texans quarterback takes a ton of unnecessary hits that could hurt him in the long run. Last year, Watson was sacked 62 times and was constantly picking himself up off the ground.
In his third season, it would help if there was more of a structure put in place for Watson.
If Houston can do that, Watson could ascend into the top tier of quarterbacks.
