Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson wasn't on the field last offseason after suffering an ACL injury the previous season. Coach Bill O'Brien thinks that Watson not being healthy last offseason had an effect on the team, and is excited that this season Watson will be taking steps forward with the team, rather than just trying to get himself healthy.
“I don’t think [Watson] has a ceiling,” O’Brien said on The Adam Schefter Podcast. “I think that it’s hard to put a ceiling on a guy like that because of who he is, how he works, his ability, his skill set [and] his passion for the game.”
“He has had, now this season, a whole offseason of no limitations and coming back to the offseason program, a full go, can do everything. Training camp, full go. Last year, that wasn’t the case. He was limited in training camp, limited in the offseason program, so now he’ll have a full offseason, which I think will be big.”
Watson did get beat up again last season, suffering rib and lung issues, but he is 100 percent and the next question is, will the offensive line do a better job of blocking for him this upcoming season.
Article Continues BelowHe was sacked 62 times last season and if that continues, there won't be many offseasons that Watson will be healthy because he will continue to suffer injuries.
If the offensive line is better the expectations for this team should be playoffs at a minimum and they have to feel like they can make a run once they get there.
