The Houston Texans are expecting wide receiver Will Fuller back for their game against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
Help is on the way for playoff teams next week:
— The #Texans are expecting to have WR Will Fuller (groin) active vs. the #Chiefs, barring a setback.
— The #49ers are expecting to have pass-rusher Dee Ford (hamstring) for the divisional game. He’s been limited or out for a month.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 5, 2020
Fuller was a game-time decision heading into their Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills, but ended up being inactive because of a lingering groin injury. Fuller suffered the injury during Week 16, also missing their Week 17 game against the Tennessee Titans.
Not having Fuller on the field was a big loss for the Texans against the Bills, but they were still able to come away with the comeback victory. On the season, Fuller caught 49 passes for 670 yards and three touchdowns. His stats are good, but he also opens up the field for Deandre Hopkins because of the threat of Fuller going deep.
In the Texans Wild Card game against the Bills, the offense really struggled in the first half and it looked like Fuller might not see the field again this season. Deshaun Watson reminded everyone to stay calm. During the second half, they came all the way back to pull off the victory.
“We knew exactly what they were going to do in the second half,” Watson said via Sarah Barshop of ESPN. “All we had to do was just kind of get back in that routine and find that rhythm.”
To pull off the upset against the Chiefs, it's going to take all hands on deck on both sides of the ball. In turn, it's great news that Fuller should be on the field.
