Colts Trade Targets To Complete 2022 Roster
3. Nelson Agholor – WR
New England Patriots
Of the 12 wide receivers that are currently on the Colts roster, only rookie Alec Pierce, Michael Pittman Jr., and Parris Campbell are household names. These three options will likely command the lion's share of targets from Ryan this year, but can they actually be counted on?
The New England Patriots have a messy skill player grouping going on on offense, and freeing up their WR room by trading Nelson Agholor to the Colts would be a good first step. The 29-year-old, who is coming off a subpar 37/473/3 season with the Patriots, would instantly be one of the most senior options for Ryan to target in the passing game.
Plus, the Colts likely would not need to give up a haul for a player heading into the final year of his deal, and the Patriots only incur $5 million in dead cap this season and no dead cap for 2023.
2. Isaac Seumalo – G
Philadelphia Eagles
As it currently stands, the Colts roster only has three true offensive guards listed on their depth chart – Quenton Nelson, second-year pro Will Fries, and rookie Josh Seltzner. With Nelson firmly entrenched in one spot, this team needs to determine if Danny Pinter will assume the other spot or if they should look outside the organization, possibly at a player like Philadelphia’s Isaac Seumalo.
In the final year of his deal, Seumalo could see himself on the move as the Eagles have a few starting options for the interior of their offensive line, something that could benefit the Colts. Needing to only ship out a mid-round selection to get the deal done, the Colts should consider the 28-year-old to help shore up the interior of their OL.
1. Corey Davis – WR
New York Jets
As he has an out in his three-year deal after this upcoming season, Corey Davis and the New York Jets could be heading for a split after this season. Or if they’d prefer, they could send him packing to the Colts and let him play out his contract with a WR room that needs more talent.
The same reasoning that Agholor was suggested earlier can fit here for Davis as well – with a group of projected starters having limited NFL experience and no real stats to show for them, it would be a big step for the Colts offense if they decided to go out and add a veteran option like Davis.
With both Elijah Moore and Garrett Wilson in-house for the Jets, Davis does not really have an established role to fall into at this point, so getting him out of town now makes the most sense.
