The Indianapolis Colts have made a strong push up the standings over the last several weeks that have put them in the position of vying for the playoffs heading into the final two weeks of the season.

However, the Colts may have a brighter future past the 2018 campaign as they have positioned themselves to have well over $100 million in salary cap space to be impact players in the free agent market next offseason, per Spotrac.

The Colts have all of their core pieces to the puzzle under contract for the long haul with their key playmakers on both sides of the ball on multi-year deals. Star quarterback Andrew Luck is already under his massive five-year, $122.9 million deal that runs through the 2022 season while former Pro Bowl wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is under a five-year, $65 million contract that extends through 2021.

Indianapolis will have the ability to be big spenders to bring in some top talents on the market that could be headlined by Pro Bowl running back Le'Veon Bell. It has been quite clear that his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers will come to an end next offseason as the team has found his replacement in James Conner. Meanwhile, the Colts will have more than enough money to spend on Bell to give him the type of deal that he's looking to land.

On top of that, the Colts may be quite an appealing choice due to how Luck is playing as he has bounced back in a major way in his first year back from injury. Luck is currently among the most productive quarterbacks in the league, ranking second in the league with 34 touchdown passes and seventh with 3,951 passing yards. All in all, Indianapolis looks to be a promising position that has a bright future ahead of the franchise for the next several years.
