Through the first couple of weeks of the season, there had dealt with consistent questions concerning the health of his surgically-repaired right shoulder in terms of how it holding up through the games. This has become a bigger topic of discussion as Luck was taken out of the game for the final play with backup Jacob Brissett put into the contest to make the 54-yard hail mary pass to the end zone. In response to that, head coach Frank Reich has stated that this decision had nothing to do with Luck's shoulder but rather who he believed gave them the best chance to throw the ball in the end zone, according to Mike Wells of ESPN.

“[It] had nothing to do with [the shoulder] and everything to do getting the ball into the end zone,” Colts coach Frank Reich said.

This situation has been diffused even more with Luck stating that he was in complete agreeance with the decision as he also felt that Brissett has a stronger arm than he does. It was just a situation that was heightened due to the fact that he is still working his way back from a shoulder injury and the fact that he couldn't throw the ball as deep drew some attention on the matter.

It was simply a strategic move that Reich felt was best for the team and there is no ill-will from Luck from not being regarded as the top option in that situation. However, it is something that will continue to draw attention the further down the line that this choice is made as some will perceive it as his shoulder not improving to the point where he can perform those type of throws.

The Colts will move past this situation with their eyes fixated on bouncing back in Week 4 with a matchup against the winless Houston Texans.
