The Indianapolis Colts have gone through a rough stretch over the last couple of years. However, the saga surrounding quarterback Andrew Luck's injured shoulder appears to be over after his declaration to play in the 2018 season opener.
Needless to say, his presence is already having a profound effect on the rest of the team. Per ESPN's Mike Wells, tight end Eric Ebron says the Colts are excited to have Luck back at practice:
“He's a magnet, he's a leader and he lets it be known,” new Colts tight end Eric Ebron said. “He's a great guy. Everybody knows what Andrew Luck is like when he's healthy — he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league.”
Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton echoed Ebron's comments.
“He's definitely more energetic,” Hilton said. “He's bringing his whole energy. His whole vibe, making all of us better from top down. We all look forward to it. He's ready and excited.”
These comments from Luck's teammates should come as no surprise. The team suffered heavily in his absence during the 2017 NFL season. It was amplified by reports from the front office that he would be able to make his return at some point, before eventually being placed on season-ending IR. It was not long before players and the rest of the NFL learned about the severity of his lingering shoulder issue.
Fortunately, that all seems to be behind Indy now. It goes without saying that Hilton and Ebron will be an integral part of the Colts' passing attack this season. The speedy wideout is coming off a bit of a down year without his Pro Bowl signal-caller under center.
Meanwhile, Ebron etablished himself as a legitimate receiving tight end during his tenure with the Detroit Lions, but he's yet to record more than 711 yards in a season. Both players are ready for a bounceback year alongside Luck.
