In the last several months, Indianapolis Colt star quarterback Andrew Luck has progressively continued to take steps forward in his recovery from a surgically-repaired right shoulder.
This has put him on track to be able to take the field to start the regular season in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Frank Reich has voiced that he believes that Luck will be able to play more in the preseason than in year's past in order to help him get him back in the mix, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
“The plan is to play him a little bit more than he would normally would if he’d had a normal year last year,” Reich said. “But I don’t want to overreact. He’ll get enough snaps in, we’ll recreate enough out here in practice by the way we practice and the speed at which we practice, and all the situational stuff we practice. We’ll build a confidence lever there. And sure, he needs to get his snaps, and maybe a little bit more. But I’m not gonna be dramatic with it.”
The fact that Luck will be able to play in the preseason is another huge step forward for Luck as it will allow for him to knock off some of the rust from being off the field for the entire 2017 campaign. He has shown that he is continuing toward being back to the player he was physically prior to the injury.
The Colts have a tremendous amount of expectations that he will be able to get back into the picture as their key factor leading the offense. When healthy, he has proven to be one of the game's most talented quarterbacks that can carry his team to success on the field.
It is simply another step forward toward him proving that he is past his injury issues which have plagued him for more than a year.
