Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton showed up to his team's AFC Wild Card Round matchup against the Houston Texans on Saturday wearing a clown mask, referencing Texans cornerback Johnathan Joseph calling him a clown earlier in the week.
The Colts then went on to beat the Texans by a score of 21-7, with Hilton hauling in five receptions for 85 yards.
Afterward, Hilton said he would be retiring the clown mask:
“It might be the lucky charm, but nah, it's done,” Hilton said of the clown mask he wore as he arrived at NRG Stadium prior to Saturday's 21-7 victory over the division-rival Texans, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com. “It's retired after today. … The mask is done after today. It might stay in Houston, or it might go back. I don't know yet.”
Hilton enjoyed a spectacular 2018 campaign, catching 76 passes for 1,270 yards and six touchdowns. However, his streak of four consecutive Pro Bowl appearances came to an end.
The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at Florida International University, was originally selected by Indianapolis in the third round (92nd pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Article Continues BelowIt didn't take long for Hilton to stamp his name among the league's elite receivers, as he finished with 1,083 yards in his second season.
In 2016, Hilton led the league with 1,448 receiving yards.
The Colts won 10 games on the year, rebounding to become just the third team since the AFL/NFL merger to make the playoffs after starting teh season 1-5.
Indianapolis will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round next Saturday.
