It is no secret that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has enjoyed quite the resurgence in the 2018 NFL season. It seems his performance this year has caught the eye of Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell.
The NFL recently noted an impressive mark by Luck on Instagram. Bell shared his interest in playing with him in the comment section:
There is certainly plenty of truth to Bell's comments. Both he and Luck are considered some of the elite players at their positions. The notion of them pairing up in the backfield would definitely shake up the NFL landscape.
To add fuel to the fire, the Colts are perhaps the most qualified team to meet Bell's lucrative tag. Despite sitting out the entire 2018 campaign, the three-time Pro Bowler has not wavered from his stance of earning top dollar in his next contract. Fortunately, the Colts will have about $123 million in cap space this offseason, which is more than any team in the NFL. Of course, signing Bell will be much easier said than done as Indianapolis will have a number of decisions to weigh out.
The Colts have invested heavily in running backs through the draft in recent years. Although their run game was virtually nonexistent early on, running back Marlon Mack has emerged as a potential workhorse as of late. Meanwhile, running back Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins have flashed some promise as complementary options to Mack. Furthermore, each player has not been in the league for more than two seasons which makes them much cheaper than Bell over the next couple of years. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if there is any mutual interest from the Colts this offseason.
