The Kansas City Chiefs are set to host the Buffalo Bills in their AFC Divisional Round matchup. This past Wednesday, Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay was arrested on a misdemeanor criminal charge. He has since returned to Chiefs' facilities and, according to head coach Andy Reid, will play on Sunday.
Chiefs beat writer Sam McDowell tweeted the news Friday afternoon.
Willie Gay was at practice today and will play Sunday, Andy Reid said.

McDowell quickly followed up this tweet, reporting that this decision was made by Reid.
Asked Andy Reid how they arrived at the decision to play Willie Gay on Sunday. He said, "I decided he'll play."

This is the first time that Gay's game day designation was made clear, validating expectations made earlier this week.
On Thursday, Gay's representative Max Lepselter released a statement regarding his arrest. According to Lepselter, Gay got into a verbal argument with the mother of his son at her house. The Chiefs linebacker broke a vacuum, but “No one was touched” and “nothing happened beyond broken appliance.”
The woman called the police during the incident, which is when Gay was arrested by Johnson County police for misdemeanor destruction of property less than $1,000.
The Chiefs have a few questionable injury designations for Sunday's game, making Gay's availability crucial. The young middle linebacker had a successful regular season with Kansas City, recording 48 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and four defended passes. In their Wild Card Weekend win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gay recorded two solo tackles and one forced fumble.
