While Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may not have another Super Bowl ring to enjoy this offseason, the former league MVP does have a reason to celebrate. Both Mahomes and his fiancée, Britany Matthews, took to Instagram Sunday afternoon to announce the birth of their first child, Sterling Skye Mahomes.
If you look closely, the baby girl is already displaying the type of firm hand grip worthy of any future athlete.

Though 2020 was hardly a banner year for most people, the same was not true for the Chiefs quarterback. Not only did Mahomes begin the year by earning his first Super Bowl victory in his career, but he signed a record 10-year contract extension worth $503 million a short five months later. Adding to the abundance of good fortune was the announcement soon afterward that the QB would be spending some of that hard-earned money on a wedding between him and Matthews.
Two months after that, the couple then announced the impending arrival of the third member of the Mahomes clan.
While the quarterback couldn't quite have it all by securing another championship against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago in Super Bowl LV, it's just as likely that the loss is far from his mind Sunday. At least until the start of the new season, that is. According to the oddsmakers in Las Vegas, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will begin the new year slated as the prohibitive favorites to return to the championship round even after enduring defeat on the game's biggest stage.
For the moment, however, Mahomes and Matthews will have to plan on adding another guest to their wedding. Somehow though, we don't think they'll mind.
