In spite of the Kansas City Chiefs clinching the AFC West with a 17-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Patrick Mahomes and the offense did not have the greatest day.

With that said, Mahomes is placing all the blame on the offensive woes on his shoulders.

Following the game, Mahomes took full responsibility for the Chiefs' offense not playing as well as many are used to.

“I think it was just a bad day for the offense, starting with me,” Patrick Mahomes said postgame, via Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star (Via Pro Football Talk). “I think the offense will figure it out.”

The offense needs to figure it out, and do it quickly. Despite the win, the Chiefs only accumulated 395 yards in total along with their 17 points. That is over 30 yards less than they have averaged this 2020–putting 427.9 yards per game. It is also almost half as many points scored as the team averages, with Kansas City averaging 31.1 points per game thus far this campaign.

The win not only clinched the division for the Chiefs, but it also gave them a first-round bye. While some may think this will help the team recoup and recover for the playoffs, it may make the issue of the offense stalling worse.

Kansas City is still the odds-on favorite for the Super Bowl, but without the dynamic offense NFL fans have come to expect from the Chiefs, they may be ripe for an upset in the playoffs. Next week, they face the Los Angeles Chargers in a game they will need to use to get the offense back on track.
