On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to terms on a four-year extension with tight end Travis Kelce. That deal keeps him in Kansas City for six more seasons with his existing contract in place. Needless to say, this made quarterback Patrick Mahomes very happy.
Mahomes wasted no time expressing his happiness with a strong reaction on Twitter.

It's pretty obvious that Mahomes is excited about the future. In just two seasons, they have already established themselves as quite possibly the deadliest duo in football.
That duo has led to an MVP for Mahomes, two Pro Bowl appearances for both and one All-Pro honor for each. Oh, and a Super Bowl ring (and Super Bowl MVP for Mahomes) in 2019-20 for the franchise.
Clearly, things are going well in Kansas City. They recognized that and decided to try and keep their core players. That is now Mahomes, Kelce and defensive lineman Chris Jones all locked up to major deals this offseason.
Article Continues BelowIn the two years since Mahomes became the starter, Kelce has 200 receptions for 1,565 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns. The past two seasons have easily been the two best years of Kelce's career.
Meanwhile, Mahomes certainly has benefitted from Kelce's presence as well. The two are a perfect match, and the gunslinger is excited to have his tight end for a long time.
It will be interesting to see who else Kansas City is able to keep, as they are signing stars to massive contracts. One thing is certain though, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are going to be must watch for a long time.
And as long as the Chiefs have those two running the offense, they should be legitimate Super Bowl contenders as well. Could Mahomes and Kelce help bring a few more rings to Kansas City like they did this past season? They'll have plenty of opportunities to try.
