Through his first three seasons in the league, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already shown his capabilities as a fancy passer on the gridiron. After showing some nifty no-look passes in the past, the 2018 NFL MVP still has one more trick up his sleeve that is waiting to be unveiled in a real game: the behind-the-back pass.
“There’s a couple plays that I’ve done in practice and I’ve been able to have success with it,” he said via Pro Football Talk. “For me, it’s gotta be in the right situation. I’m not gonna do it in a one-score game or anything like that. I’ll be a little safe with it. If we get a high scoring game where we kinda have to take advantage of whatever the defense is giving us, then I might bring it out.”
Despite the real possibility of delivering those fancy passes in-game, Mahomes prefers to put his focus on leading his team. He has successfully done so thus far as the Chiefs are enjoying a 12-1 record to top the AFC West division.
