The 10-1 Kansas City Chiefs will host the 4-7 Denver Broncos in Week 13 at Arrowhead Stadium. As expected, the Chiefs are huge favorites to defeat the Broncos at home.
Kansas City is on a six-game winning streak. They defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12 by a final score of 27-24. The Chiefs racked up 543 total yards in that contest. They have the best offense in the NFL with Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce leading the way.
The Broncos, meanwhile, played without a quarterback in Week 12 versus the New Orleans Saints. While Drew Lock will be back under center in Week 13 after coming off the reserve/COVID-19 list, Denver is still expected to get blown out in this contest against the mighty Chiefs.
With the Kansas City-Denver game set to kick off soon, let's take a look at four bold predictions for the contest from a Chiefs point of view.
1. Patrick Mahomes throws four touchdowns
The best quarterback in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes is primed to win his second MVP award. He's thrown for 3,497 yards on the season and 30 touchdowns. The one-time Super Bowl champion only has two interceptions on the season. They have both come against the Las Vegas Raiders.
In Week 13, we have Mahomes throwing for four touchdown passes. In six career games against the Broncos, Mahomes is 6-0 and has nine touchdown throws compared to only three interceptions. Denver is still without Von Miller, so odds are Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense are going to shred the Broncos' defense at Arrowhead Stadium.
It's crazy that we're even saying this, but Mahomes is projected to pass Tom Brady as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Assuming he wins more Super Bowls with the Chiefs, Mahomes is set up to be the GOAT when it is all said and done since he's started his career off with a bang and is only going to get better.
2. Tyreek Hill records third straight 100-yard game
Against Tampa Bay, Tyreek Hill caught 13 balls on 15 targets for 269 yards and three touchdowns. He's gone over the 100-yard mark in three straight games and has six touchdowns during that span.
Against the Broncos, we have Hill recording his fourth straight 100-yard receiving game. The four-time Pro Bowler can't be guarded right now and has an unbelievable rapport with Mahomes, who has the best arm in the NFL.
Through 11 games this season, Hill has 68 receptions for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns. He's faced the Broncos eight times in his career and is 8-0. Hill has 37 catches for 410 yards and five scores against the Broncos. His fantasy owners are in for another big day in Week 13.
3. Chiefs pick off Drew Lock three times
Broncos quarterback Drew Lock has 11 interceptions on the season and 14 in his career. The 24-year-old has only played in 13 games, so he's established himself as a turnover machine in the NFL.
With that being said, we have the Chiefs' defense picking off Lock three times in Week 13. The youngster is going to be rusty after not playing in Week 12 versus the Saints. Lock was picked off twice back in Week 7 against the Chiefs. He's turned the ball over in six straight starts, so Kansas City's defense has to be excited about facing Lock on Sunday.
The Chiefs have 12 interceptions on the season. Both Daniel Sorensen and Tyrann Mathieu each have three. Look for KC's defense to be flying around the ball against the Broncos and make life miserable for Lock in his return to the lineup.
4. Chiefs defeat Broncos, improve to 11-1
Kansas City will defeat Denver pretty easily at home to improve to 11-1 on the season. The defending Super Bowl champions will win the AFC West division and are primed to go on another Super Bowl run with head coach Andy Reid at the helm.
Ever since the Raiders upset the Chiefs at home in Week 5, Kansas City has been on a mission to not lose another game. Mahomes and the offense are playing out of their minds right now and the defense is forcing turnovers at a pretty high rate. There's only been one game this season where the Chiefs' defense didn't turn their opponent over. Back in Week 7, the Broncos turned the ball over four times against Kansas City.
Looking at the schedule, the Chiefs could very well go 15-1 this season. After beating the Broncos, Kansas City will face the Miami Dolphins, Saints, Atlanta Falcons and Chargers. Since New Orleans will likely be without Drew Brees in Week 15, Kansas City shouldn't have a problem with the Saints even though Sean Payton's group is atop the NFC.
Most of the bettors in Las Vegas are picking the Chiefs to repeat as champions and it's easy to see why.
