After a tough defeat the Sunday before to the Buccaneers, the Chiefs asserted themselves as a strong AFC contender by beating the rival Broncos on the road. A huge reason they came out on top was the play of rookie receiver Tyreek Hill.
Hill made NFL history Sunday night, completing a touchdown hat trick by reaching the end zone rushing, receiving, and on a return. That hadn't happened in 51 years.
The last player to achieve the incredible feat was Hall of Famer Gale Sayers, who did so in 1965. Sayers was also a rookie at the time.
The return
Hill's versatility is becoming a huge weapon for Kansas City. He began his touchdown trifecta with a 86-yard free-kick return following a safety:
When you have speed like this, you can high-five a teammate on the way into the end zone. https://t.co/CItHluupM9

The rush

The reception
Finally, with the game on the line, Hill momentarily bobbled a Alex Smith pass, allowing him to gain possession after passing the goal line:
Can you believe it!?!? Tyreek Hill with the TD with 12 seconds left to tie the game! https://t.co/CJIUWvRQVT

The ensuing two-point conversion forced overtime, and Kansas City was able to gut out a huge 30-27 victory. At 8-3 with remaining home games against the Raiders and Broncos, the Chiefs control their destiny with a bye very much in reach.
