For the second week in a row, the Miami Dolphins have lost on the last play of the game. The ‘Phins suffered a 30-28 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Miami now falls to 1-6 on the year.

The Dolphins just can't get over that hump to win ball games that they need to be winning.

There's a lot to take away from the latest Miami Dolphins loss:

1. Tua Tagovailoa looked impressive for Dolphins

Despite throwing two interceptions quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a rather impressive game throwing for 291 yards with four touchdowns. Those two interceptions were just two bad plays and the type of plays that the Dolphins can't afford to make. The offensive line finally played well today. Tua was only sacked one time. He showed what he can do if the offensive line can protect him and that's a major plus for the Dolphins if they decide Tua is going to be the man for the job.

2. Mike Gesicki continues to impress

Tight end Mike Gesicki is showing the Dolphins how good he is. He's done it all season and he didn't do any differently today. Gesicki led the team with 85 yards on seven receptions with a touchdown. He will likely get a nice contract from the Dolphins this summer.

3. The running back questions should be over

Myles Gaskin was finally able to get the number of touches that he deserves each weekend, but only because Malcolm Brown left the game with an injury. Gaskin finished the game with 67 yards on 15 carries, as he continues to show that he should be starting over Brown. It is questionable why the Dolphins aren't starting him and getting him this many touches every week.

4. The defense continues to be one of the league's worst

The defense couldn't step up once again today and they allowed a very average Falcons team to put up 30 points against them. Late in the fourth quarter, the Dolphins couldn't stop the Falcons run game and that allowed the Falcons to have the last play of the game and the Dolphins offense couldn't be back on the field. The defense all season has had an inability to come up big at key moments throughout the year. Today it was a little different as Xavien Howard had an interception, and Nik Needham came up with a fumble recovery. Unfortunately for the Dolphins this was too little too late for their defense.

5. Jaylen Waddle continues to impress

The Dolphins sixth overall pick in this year's draft, Jaylen Waddle, continues to show his special talent. Waddle is only a rookie but is already showing that he's going to be one of the league's top receivers in years to come.

It seems like this has been happening for too many years with the Dolphins when they're always in a close game but just can't sneak out a victory. Unfortunately for the Dolphins in the NFL every week matters and this is why they haven't had much success in recent years. The Dolphins will travel to Buffalo next weekend to take on the Bills. In their first matchup of the season, the Bills beat the Dolphins 35-0
