The Miami Dolphins are in desperate need of a running back, and they may have found their primary target. According to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com, the Dolphins are targeting Melvin Gordon in free agency at “the right price.”
Of course, “the right price” is a pretty big caveat.Because it was fairly clear last offseason that Gordon valued himself considerably higher than the Los Angeles Chargers did. And many teams around the NFL probably feel a similar way to the Chargers about what Gordon's value truly is.
Thanks to an early-season holdout, Gordon played in just 12 games in 2019. He rushed for 612 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 3.8 yards per carry. He also logged 42 catches for 296 yards and a score.
The 26-year-oldwas originally selected by the Chargers in the first round (15th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

The following year, Gordon made his first Pro Bowl, totaling 997 yards and 10 scores as rusher, recording 3.9 yards per attempt. He then posted his first 1,000-yard season in 2017, registering 1,105 yards while reaching the end zone eight times. Again, though Gordon tallied a mere 3.9 yards per tote.
Finally, in 2018, Gordon began to display some efficiency, accumulating 885 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry, but Gordon has averaged just four yards per carry for his career.
However, with the Dolphins ranking last in the NFL in rushing this past season, Gordon would be a fine addition.
