A rumor started on Twitter suggests that the Miami Dolphins are looking to “tank” in 2019 — but this rumor seems to have picked up steam.
That's fine. Then tank for someone else. The point is the Dolphins are tanking.
TANKING.
Everyone I speak to behind the scenes tells me so. https://t.co/wsvc7PIORe

Armando Salguero, who is a football insider and a writer for the Miami Herald, kicked off the rumor mill with this bold proclamation about the Dolphins on Twitter today.
Naturally, there were more than a few fans who were skeptical of his bold claim.
So you actually believe Brian Flores would be OK with the notion of losing games for a living, just to throw it all in the fire for a QB who has never played a NFL game. Stop the BS Armando. You believe everything you hear?

Enough w/this nonsense, no one worth a salt is going to try to lose. Also not a great selling point to incoming coach, “hey welcome on board we’re going to tank.” Draft better, don’t spend big $ on the wrong FAs, keep your own players, change culture. Flores not coming to tank

The Dolphins have to much talent to tank unless they're trading and releasing and starting Fales. Very unlikely they set this staff up for that!..

Unfortunately, in this age of social media, the rumor took on a life of its own, and now some major outlets are starting to pick up on the rumor.
According to MSN, Armando Salcero isn't the only “expert” who has learned about the Dolphins' plan to tank in 2019.
This was reinforced to me, too, this week. Nothing can get in the way of losing next season! As Armando coined, Tank for Tua https://t.co/yzIEb1uHag

The outlet reports that the reason behind the Dolphins “tanking” has to do with quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
“The Dolphins have had Ryan Tannehill at quarterback for the last six seasons. He was the No. 8 overall pick by them in 2012 and showed some promise, though he ultimately fell short of being a franchise QB and has missed time due to injury. The Dolphins are planning to move on from him, which would create an opportunity to set up a roster ripe for tanking.”
With incoming head coach Brian Flores looking to prove himself in the first year, it will be interesting to see if, in fact, the tanking actually happens, or if the team pulls off a surprise. Worst case scenario? As a fan suggested, if the Dolphins are going to tank in 2019, the least they can do is offer the fans some tickets for free.
