The Minnesota Vikings knew when they took long snapper Austin Cutting, that he might have to serve out his military commitment before he could play with the team, but it appears the team doesn't have a final answer just yet.
Before the military changed their policy in 2017, players would be able to serve in the reserves while playing football, but the department of defense changed their policy and that isn't the case anymore.
Chris Tommason of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reached out to Air Force's Associate Athletic Director of Communications Troy Garnhart, who said no decision has been made yet.

Two years ago, Air Force wideout Jalen Robinette tried to make a run at the NFL and get a waiver, but he was required to serve the two years to fulfill his commitment. Robinette is almost done with the requirement and can try to resume his NFL career once he is done.
Even though the Air Force hasn't said it, that is probably the direction this case is going too. Since the rules were changed in 2017, no one has been able to serve in the reserves to start their NFL career.
In the meantime, Cutting is expected to be at Vikings rookie minicamp this weekend.
