Minnesota Vikings head team trainer Eric Sugarman, who is also the team's Infection Control Officer, has tested positive for COVID-19. The Vikings have now released a statement, indicating that he, along with other members of his family, have indeed contracted the virus over the weekend:

“We learned over the weekend Minnesota Vikings Head Athletic Trainer and Vice President of Sports Medicine and the team's Infection Control Officer Eric Sugarman, along with members of his family, tested positive for COVID-19,” The statement reads. “Eric immediately shared his results with the organization and began to follow the previously established comprehensive protocol created by the NFL and national and local health experts. Sugarman also released a statement, noting that his family is only experiencing mild symptoms and he plans on returning to the Vikings as soon as he is able to do so. He noted how this virus does not discriminate and urged people to continue taking the proper precautions and to follow guidelines.

This is more news in a sports world that has been hit hard with significant issues related to COVID-19. In baseball, news came out that 14 members of the Miami Marlins organization tested positive, which has already caused both the Marlins' series against the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Phillies' series against the New York Yankees to be postponed.

Those developments have put the prospect of sports returning more and more in question.
