The Minnesota Vikings boast one of the best safety duos in the NFL, but they could be looking to add some depth at the position. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Minnesota is working out free agent safety Jahleel Addae.
With veterans taking on an increased importance this year, workouts are starting to pick up. Case in point: The #Vikings are bringing in veteran FA S Jahleel Addae for a workout, source said. A long-time starter for the #Chargers, he spent last year with the #Texans.

The Vikings currently deploy a talented safety tandem of Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris. However, behind Smith and Harris, Minnesota doesn't have another safety on the roster that's been in the league for at least one season.
Provided that, the Vikings could use an experienced safety to give them depth at the position this season. Furthermore, Minnesota could be looking to add someone like Addae, who has started 62 games in his career.

Addae spent his first six seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers after signing with the team as an undrafted rookie out of Central Michigan in 2013. In his six years with the Chargers, Addae compiled 372 tackles, 21 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
Then, last season, Addae was with the Houston Texans, where he started in three games for Houston. While suiting up in all 16 games for the Texans, Addae contributed 45 tackles, three pass breakups, and a career-best two interceptions.
With COVID-19 causing concerns for teams in 2020, having experienced depth is going to be as valuable as ever this season. Even though the Vikings have arguably the best safety duo in the NFL, they could use some insurance in case one of them gets injured or tests positive during the season. Of the available options in free agency, it seems Minnesota could be nearing a deal with Addae.
