Tom Brady has a serious drinking habit. Fortunately for the New England Patriots, the ageless quarterback is not showing up to practice and games reeking of alcohol because all Brady is chugging down is water. Lots of them. In fact, he is drinking more than 37 glasses of it per day, according to his new book, The TB12 Method.

Since Brady is one of the greatest athletes to ever play professional sports in history, people are going to try to emulate his actions, but at least one nutritional expert thinks that Brady’s copious water consumption would do more harm than good to anyone. Speaking to Holly Van Hare of The Daily Meal, nutritionist Ariane Resnick said that it’s not ideal for a human to drink that much H2O.

Nutritionist Ariane Resnick told The Daily Meal that she would never recommend this regimen since “your body can only process so much liquid.”

Resnick has encountered celebrity diets both superfluous and strange, even managing to cook meals for Gwyneth Paltrow, known for her company’s chic but sometimes reckless health recommendations. But Resnick knows there’s a line to be drawn.

“Increase your water intake by 2 to 4 glasses a day and you will be better hydrated, your skin may look less wrinkled, and you’ll likely feel better,” she explained, “but I’d avoid trying to become a human aquarium.”

Water is one of man’s basic needs, but Brady’s method just comes across to her as some sort of voluntary water torture. While drinking water is always a good and harmless idea, there are, of course, limits.
