Tom Brady might be a robot.
At age 39, he's still performing at an elite level. His first game back after his suspension was one of the best of his career, throwing for over 400 yards with nearly perfect accuracy and three touchdowns.
One of his primary targets, Julian Edelman, appeared on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria earlier this week to discuss an array of topics, including how Brady continues to dominate at his age.
From Ryan Hannable of WEEI 93.7 FM:
“He lives, breathes and eats football so if he’s not in the film room he’s getting his body worked on and if he’s not getting his body worked on he’s eating avocado ice cream and staying away from strawberries,” Edelman said. “When you have that crucial trifecta going you can play until you’re like 100, I think.”
Leading up to last Sunday's game with the Browns, Edelman admitted that the entire Patriots team, from players to coaches, was fired up for Brady's return:
“I mean, players are players. Coaches are coaches. Of course you’re going to get fired up,” he said. “You’re going to take the week of preparation, you have a little bit more fun, that’s for sure. There’s more fun going on because you’re excited to see your leader out there. Kind of like one of those things where you have to go and put the hard hat on, bring the lunch pail to work and this time you had a little more pep in your step.”
I don't know about 100, but I wouldn't doubt Brady producing at a high level for at least a few years into his 40s.
