The New England Patriots are in desperate need of help at wide receiver, and Pro Football Focus has found the perfect target for them this offseason.

Anthony Treash of Pro Football Focus names A.J. Green as someone the Patriots should be pursuing come March, and based on the way New England's passing game looked in 2019, it's hard to disagree with him.

The Pats entered the year with Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown in their receiving corps, but Gordon was released midseason and Brown was, well, Brown.

As for Edelman? The veteran remained reliable until shoulder and knee injuries inhibited him down the stretch, resulting in the 34-year-old undergoing shoulder surgery after the season concluded.

Obviously, the Patriots need help in that area, and Green, who has spent his entire NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals, could be a terrific fit.

Of course, Green comes with a rather major caveat.

The 31-year-old did not play at all in 2019 due to ankle issues, and he appeared in just nine contests in 2018 as a result of a toe injury. Going back even further, Green has played in just 35 of of a possible 64 games dating since 2015.

But while Green is an injury risk, there is no doubting what he can do when he is healthy.

The Summerville, S.C. native, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by the Bengals with the fourth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first seven seasons, with his best year coming in 2013 when he hauled in 98 receptions for 1,426 yards and 11 touchdowns.
