It has been over a month since the New England Patriots fell just short in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles from repeating as champions in their third appearances on that stage in the last four years. It was a gut-wrenching loss that was decided in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

It was a disappointing loss that bothered greatly more than just Patriots quarterback Tom Brady but also his family, in particular, his children. According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the 40-year-old stated that he believes the result of the game has provided a great learning lesson for his three kids.

“You know, Benny was crying, Vivi was crying and they were sad for me and sad for the Patriots,” he said. “But I just said to them, ‘Look, you guys, this is a great lesson. We don't always win. We try our best and sometimes it doesn't go the way we want.'”

This was a difficult pill to swallow for Brady given that he had helped lead his team to an eighth Super Bowl appearance in his 18th season in the league. He was able to do it behind another MVP season while playing some of the best football of his career at a time where many of the previous greats are in a steep decline.

What makes it even more frustrating was that Brady did his part offensively passing for a Super Bowl record 505 yards with three passing touchdowns while holding a 115.4 passer rating in the contest. He did everything in his power to put his team in position to win the game, but the Eagles led by Nick Foles had a response to every counterpunch that allowed them to top the Patriots on the grandest stage.

Although it's just the game of football, it does provide a lesson that Brady's children could learn from that things may not always go there way, but a strong effort is always important. It will be interesting to see how the Patriots led by their five-time Super Bowl quarterback will respond next season.
