The 2021 NFL season is here and we are about to kick off Week 3. One of the bigger games of the weekend is between the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots. Interestingly enough, a report has surfaced that the Saints had made some calls on disgruntled All-Pro Stephon Gilmore, according to Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com.

"They were very interested in him. I know they made calls on him…. I heard there were some concerns about either his health or long term status. I didn't hear it prevented a deal but that was a red flag for them."

Wow.
Can you imagine if the Saints did get Gilmore? After all, Sean Payton's squad has dealt with a ton of injuries on their roster–and in the secondary–and it is no secret that Gilmore can still produce at a high level.

“They ended up making a deal for Bradley Roby instead. But they were making calls to teams all over the league. Any veteran corner that might have been available.”
Gilmore has been out since last December and won't return for some time. It will be interesting to see if NFL teams call on Gilmore, who has remained disgruntled with the contract situation.
So, even more storylines to the Saints-Patriots matchup could be coming up with these trade reports surfacing.
