The New Orleans Saints are still ironing out their plans at quarterback for next season. Amid the rumors that they're one of the final remaining possible destinations for Deshaun Watson, a new team has emerged as a potential landing spot for New Orleans' plan B. According to reports from Josina Anderson, Jameis Winston told her he's held conversations with the Indianapolis Colts, in addition to the Saints.
I just spoke w/ QB Jameis Winston who told me he's had conversations with both the #Colts and the #Saints. Saints already made an offer earlier this offseason. Winston in very good spirits told me, "I still view myself as a starter in this league and that's what I'm looking for."

While the Saints seem to be focusing on Watson, the Colts could sneak in and land Winston in free agency. Anderson reports that Winston said, “I still view myself as a starter in this league and that's what I'm looking for.”
Clearly, Winston isn't going to be satisfied playing second fiddle to another quarterback and doesn't intend to accept an offer that would have him on clipboard duty. With the Saints currently honing in on Watson, the Colts could use this as an opportune time to lure Winston away from New Orleans.
Of course, there are other fits for the starting role in Indianapolis, too, and it's unclear who the team prefers when it comes to the likes of Baker Mayfield, Jimmy Garoppolo, Matt Ryan, and Winston.
The worst-case scenario for the Saints would be to miss out on both Watson and Winston. That would result in the team finding themselves in an even uglier situation at quarterback than they endured in 2021, so locking down one of these two veterans is a must for New Orleans.
As more quarterbacks get poached via trade and free agency, it appears as if Winston's market is beginning to heat up.
