New Orlean Saints quarterback Drew Brees entered Monday's game against the Washington Redskins needing just 201 passing yards to pass Peyton Manning for the all-time passing mark.
Brees was able to pass that mark in the first half of the contest after a 62-yard touchdown connection with rookie Tre'Quan Smith late in the second quarter to reach that mark.

This is yet another notch on Brees' impressive resume that is filled with a litany of individual records that will put him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Among the records he holds is most 5,000-yard passing seasons (five), most consecutive 4,000-yard passing seasons (12), most career 400-yard passing games (16), most career 300-yard passing games (111), and most seasons leading the NFL in passing yards (seven). It is a testament to his work ethic and talent on the field as one of the best pure, accurate passers that the league has seen.
Brees was methodical passing the ball in the first half of Monday's game completing 17-of-20 passes for 250 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns while getting eight different wide receivers involved. The Redskins simply had no answer for him defensively with their secondary being torched to the tone of 26 points in the first quarters of play. Brees could be quickly nearing his 112th 300-yard career passing game quickly in the second half as the Saints look to grab their fourth win of the year.
The 39-year-old is still playing at an elite level in his 18th season with no true decline in his play at this point of his career. This should see him continue to add to his impressive career that could put the all-time passing yard mark at an astronomical level that could be held by him for quite some time. Nonetheless, it further solidifies his Pro Football Hall of Fame status.
