Super Bowl XLIV champion Jermon Bushrod is set to retire from the NFL as a New Orleans Saint.

Jane Slater recently tweeted a transaction that many Saints and NFL fans have known for a good while:

In what can be considered a classy move by the organization, Bushrod will be hanging up his cleats as a member of the team that drafted him and with which he won a Super Bowl title.

Bushrod had an impressive and successful career in the league. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2007 draft, Bushrod spent his first two years on the bench before getting his start as a tackle. He earned two Pro-Bowl selections in his final two seasons with the Saints before leaving.

Bushrod is a beloved figure among Saints players and fans. In his last full season, his teammates awarded him with the Ed Block Courage Award. His quips to his former teammates in training camp while he is enjoying life by the pool also brought a good laugh among fans.

He will certainly be a figure that the Saints will miss. He is a positive presence in the team, a consummate professional, and a proven winner. Players and fans alike wish him and his family the best as he moves on to pursue his other endeavors.
