New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas had a career year in the 2019 campaign; however, he's confident he'll have an even better season in 2020.
Despite not being able to workout with quarterback Drew Brees due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Thomas feels like he'll still be ready for the 2020 season.
“I’ll be ready when the season comes,” Thomas told Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Advocate. “More than ready.”
Thomas was on an absolute tear in the 2019 season. The 27-year-old led the NFL in receptions (149) and receiving yards (1,725). Additionally, he recorded a career-high nine touchdowns.
Since he hasn't been able to workout with his Saints teammates like he would normally do during offseasons, Thomas has been forced to train by himself.
When Thomas was asked what workouts he's been doing during the offseason for the Saints, he only exposed one, which was that he owns a machine that will deliver passes to him. Thomas wouldn't say the rest of his workout routines he's been doing. However, he made a promise, which is that everyone will be able to see the work he's putting in this offseason.
“You’ll be able to tell,” Thomas said. “Everyone will be able to tell.”
Thomas explained that he doesn't like giving up workout routines, so that he can improve the Saints even more.
“Oh, I don’t give up my stuff like that,” Thomas said.
Nevertheless, now that the Saints have Emmanuel Sanders, Thomas won't get double coverage as often. Based on Thomas's interview with Johnson, we should be in store in seeing another dominating season from Thomas in 2020.
