The New Orleans Saints will get a boost with Drew Brees back under center for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, Brees will be without one of his top weapons in wide receiver Michael Thomas, per the Saints.

Thomas has continued to be hampered by an ankle injury that has given him problems ever since he suffered a sprain in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His absence comes at a tough time for the Saints.

New Orleans fell to the No. 2 seed in the NFC following a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend. The Saints are even with the Green Bay Packers in terms of record, but the Packers own the tiebreaker after beating New Orleans in Week 3.

Green Bay also has the benefit of playing a 4-9 Carolina Panthers team on Saturday, while the Saints should have their hands full with the defending Super Bowl champions. The job gets even harder for Brees and Co. without Michael Thomas.

The stud wide receiver has played in just seven of the team's first 13 games, missing six straight between Week 2 and Week 8. However, Thomas has been productive since returning to the fold in Week 9.

The former Ohio State star was especially good in each of the last two weeks. Thomas had nine catches for 105 yards in a win over the Atlanta Falcons before hauling in eight receptions for 84 yards in the loss to the Eagles.

New Orleans will have to get more from the other weapons as the club takes on the Chiefs without Michael Thomas.
