It is hard to argue that longtime New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees isn't one of the best to ever do it.

In some pretty good company according to a recent list of the league's best quarterbacks by The Athletic, the publication ranked Brees as the No. 3 overall signal-caller in the NFL today — behind only Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, respectively.

However, at least one NFL offensive coordinator doesn't believe that Brees is carrying the Saints like many believe he is. Could this mean that Brees is starting to decline?

“I like to think of the ones being so rare over the years — Peyton, Brady, Rodgers,” one NFL offensive coordinator recently told The Athletic. “Then you take a breath and you say it’s Brees, whoever else. Look, I’m president of the Drew Brees fan club, but last year, when the run game dried up a little, I felt he was not carrying them like he was before.”

Of course, Brees previously led the Saints to a Super Bowl title shortly after making his way to New Orleans by way of the then-San Diego Chargers.

While Brees and company came a mere inches from reaching the Super Bowl just a season ago, it appears as though New Orleans has been coming up just shy of greatness a lot lately.

Even so, with Brees still playing alongside running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Michael Thomas, the Saints have a pretty good shot at returning to the postseason in 2019-20.
