The New Orleans Saints are welcoming back Pro Bowl running back Mark Ingram after he completed his four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing policy, and head coach Sean Payton is excited to get him going.

The coaching staff is tasked with bringing Ingram back into the fold smoothly after he was away for over a month. Payton acknowledged that by stating that Ingram's versatility should help integrating him back into the offense quite easy, according to Luke Johnson of Nola.com.

“We'll figure out the balance with the Redskins game and going forward each game,” Payton said. “You're always looking at how you want to play the game.

“But, of course, a little bit more versatility with someone with Mark's experience. I know it'll be good for us offensively to have him back.”

Ingram has proven to be a game-changing talent out of the backfield over the last several years. He stepped up his play this past season, arguably playing the best football of his career while earning a second Pro Bowl nod. Ingram racked up a career-high 1,124 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns while hauling in 58 catches for 416 receiving yards.

In his absence, fellow Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara has been a huge spark plug as a dual-threat weapon. He currently ranks eighth in the league with 275 rushing yards and first with five rushing touchdowns while placing third with 35 receptions for 336 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Kamara has more than filled the void left by Ingram, but the Alabama product's return should provide more stability in the backfield as the two proved to be the best 1-2 punch together last season. The Saints could give Ingram limited work while they ease him back into the fold in order to avoid any setbacks.
