New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa is difficult to bring down in the open field, and at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, you can see why. However, Jets head coach Adam Gase would prefer he actually goes to the ground earlier to prevent injury:
“It’s a fine line with him,” Gase said, according to Manish Mehta of The New York Daily News. “He is a physical player. He’s a big man. When he gets to the secondary, he’s a tough guy to bring down. We were on opposite teams last year and he carried about 12 guys on his back for about 10 yards. At some point, you’d like him to go down. When you know it’s getting too many, just going down and saving yourself for the next play because we’re going to need him.”
Enunwa is coming off of an injury-shortened 2018 campaign in which he played 11 games and caught 38 passes for 449 yards and a touchdown.
The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Nebraska, was originally selected by the Jets in the sixth round (209th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Then, in 2017, Enunwa had a breakout year of sorts, playing in all 16 games and hauling in 58 receptions for 857 yards and four scores.
New York won just four games this past season and has not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign.
