Brett Favre has been more open about his thoughts on the NFL over the past couple of years and he chimed in with his thoughts on the New York Jets' head coaching search. Rumors have connected Mike McCarthy to the Jets and if you ask Favre, that would be a good move for both sides.

In an interview with Sirius XM Radio, Favre was asked about McCarthy and the Jets and gave a great endorsement for the move to happen.

McCarthy is known for being an offensive-minded head coach and could do wonders for Sam Darnold in New York. His system grew old in Green Bay, but that does not mean that he cannot continue being a very successful head coach in the NFL.

During his 13-year tenure with the Packers, McCarthy racked up a 125-77 record. He also led the Packers to a Super Bowl win back in the 2010 season. Green Bay may have moved on, but McCarthy will not be remembered as anything less than a very successful football coach.

New York has been stuck in mediocrity for years. Bringing in a coach with the pedigree that McCarthy has would be a very wise decision.

It will be interesting to see what the Jets end up doing this offseason. McCarthy may not even have major interest in coaching New York. He has also been connected heavily to Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns.

All of that being said, Favre certainly thinks that the Jets and McCarthy are a match made in heaven.
