Geno Smith had a rough ending to his time with the New York Jets and he'd rather not speak about the past. After ESPN recently recounted Smith's locker room altercation in 2015, the quarterback called out ESPN on social media for running the story in the first place.

In a tweet directed toward ESPN, Smith wasn't fond of the site's decision to rehash the events that took place five years ago:

“This is what y’all posting? This what really happened? Hell no. Negativity sells in this world and lies go further than the truth. The devilish acts perpetuated in the media will never get old. It’s a shame what these people do for a story!”

Back in 2015, Smith was projected to be the starting quarterback for the Jets in his third season with the franchise. Under new head coach Todd Bowles, there was the belief that it was Smith's job to lose. And he did lose it.

Before the 2015 campaign, Smith would get into a scuffle with former teammate Ik Enemkpali. Furthermore, the incident would result in Smith suffering a broken jaw, causing him to be sidelined for weeks.

On top of that, he would lose the starting job to veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick. While Smith was watching from the sidelines, New York would record a 10-6 record, falling just one game short of the postseason.

Since then, Smith has bounced around the league, serving as a backup quarterback for the New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers, and Seattle Seahawks. While he enters his second year with the Seahawks, Smith would prefer to keep his past as the past.
