The New York Jets were in the news ahead of Tuesday's NFL trade deadline as they were discussing a potential trade with the Dallas Cowboys involving safety Jamal Adams.
Being mentioned in trade discussions was not something that Adams appreciated. He noted that teams that have the league's elite players like Aaron Donald and Tom Brady do not listen to trade offers for their stars.

On his official Twitter account, Adams stated that any rumor that mentioned him wanting to be traded by the Jets is ‘completely false.' He also stated that he sat down with the team's general manager Joe Douglas and head coach Adam Gase to make it clear that he wanted to stay in New York, but the team ‘went behind my back' by shopping him.
Article Continues BelowAt the end of the week last week, I sat down with the GM and Coach Gase and told them I want to be here in New York. I was told yesterday by my agent that the GM then went behind my back and shopped me around to teams, even after I asked him to keep me here! Crazy business.

Douglas tried to claim that there was a ‘simple miscommunication' and tried to insinuate that Adams brought the situation onto himself as a result of his ‘social media issue' earlier in the season. Douglas stated that the team is ‘not interested' in moving Adams and attempted to pass it off as simply the fact that teams ‘listen' to what other teams have to say.
“Teams have been calling us ever since there was a social media issue a few weeks back,” Douglas said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN. “My message was clear, that Jamal was an absolute stud and we're not interested in moving him. Teams continued to call. I was always taught where I'm from, if a team calls, you listen to what they have to say.”
The main issue lies in the fact that Douglas provided the Dallas Cowboys with a counteroffer for Adams when approached about his availability.
